Climate Action Plan

At Upton St Leonards Church of England Primary School, our vision of 'Building foundations for a love of life, a love of learning and a love of one another' extends to our responsibility as stewards of God's creation. This Climate Action Plan reflects our commitment to caring for the environment and preparing our children to be responsible citizens who will protect and nurture the world for future generations.

As part of the Heartwood Federation and rooted in our Christian values of love, respect, perseverance, and truthfulness, we recognise that caring for creation is a fundamental expression of our faith. This plan aligns with the Department for Education's Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy and demonstrates our commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions whilst providing enriching educational experiences for all our pupils.

Our Vision for Sustainability

Through this Climate Action Plan, we will:

  • Demonstrate love for God's creation through practical action to reduce our environmental impact
  • Show respect for all living things by enhancing biodiversity and protecting natural habitats
  • Exercise perseverance in our commitment to sustainability, recognising that meaningful change takes time and dedication
  • Act with truthfulness by measuring our impact honestly and being transparent about our progress
  • Empower our pupils through our ECO Council to take ownership of sustainability initiatives
